A Modern Maternity Session with A. and B.
I had the absolute pleasure of spending a magical afternoon with A. and B., who are eagerly awaiting their first child. Their maternity session took place in the cozy intimacy of their apartment—a space filled with vintage charm and eclectic treasures that perfectly reflect their passions. A home brimming with books, the soft melodies of jazz floating in the air, quirky objects, and a love for good food—every detail spoke of their shared love for the dolce vita, music, literature, and playful creativity. We captured spontaneous, lifestyle moments: a shared coffee (and, of course, a delicious chocolate cake) in their kitchen, weaving their everyday life into the story with authenticity and warmth.
Musical and Literary Inspirations Throughout the Session
A., an art and photography enthusiast, shared her inspirations with me before our session. Among them were works by Annie Leibovitz, Dorothea Lange, and Lee Miller—powerful influences that shaped our creative approach. Interestingly, none of her references included maternity photography, which gave me incredible artistic freedom. I loved this inspiring blank canvas! In the heat of the moment, as I was capturing them on their bed, we spontaneously recreated an homage to the iconic Yoko Ono and John Lennon portrait. Our version, however, radiated the strength and serenity of motherhood in a way that felt deeply personal.
Another nod to rock legends? We also created a unique portrait of A. in their bathroom, inspired by Robert Plant! These artistic references infused the session with a distinctive and personal touch, making it even more special.
Playful Costumes and Boundless Energy
To wrap up this modern maternity session, Anaïs and Benjamin decided to don whimsical bird masks—”The Lovebirds”—a subtle yet poetic tribute to their deep bond and unwavering complicity. This moment, infused with humor and symbolism, beautifully represented the arrival of their little one, soon to join their cozy nest.
I absolutely adored this session—offbeat, intimate, and deeply personal. It was a true reflection of them, which is exactly what I love about my work as a Modern Maternity Photographer in Paris: telling unique stories, capturing moments that truly embody who you are, with all your singularity and passions.
A huge thank you to both of you for this wildly inspiring session!
