Family session in Berlin in winter — Film & digital photography
Last December, I spent a few days in Berlin to experience the city in winter. I wanted to immerse myself in a climate quite different from the South of France, to feel its atmosphere and to see if I could picture myself living there. I wanted to discover Berlin in its most demanding light, the light of December. I also attended a Radiohead concert, which became the perfect cultural excuse to dive into the city’s energy.
During this stay, I met a French German family living in East Berlin, near Friedrichshain.
A family session at home in Berlin
We spent a few hours together in their apartment. Their three year old daughter naturally guided the rhythm of the session. Playing with Lego on the living room floor, sharing a snack, reading Christmas stories.
I photograph families at home because this is where life truly happens. This family session in Berlin was completely unposed. I simply observed and documented.
The light faded quickly. In winter, days are short in Berlin. But for a few minutes, a ray of sunlight crossed the apartment. Just enough to illuminate their faces and create warm images despite the season.
Family photographer in Berlin. A documentary approach.
My work as a maternity and family photographer in Berlin is rooted in a documentary approach. I focus on natural light, spontaneous gestures, real interactions and everyday moments.
I am not looking for perfection, but for the truth of a moment.
Berlin apartments, especially in Friedrichshain or Prenzlauer Berg, often offer bright and minimal spaces. This simplicity perfectly aligns with the way I work.
Between film and digital
For this family session in Berlin, I worked both digitally and on film. Film photography brings a unique texture, a softness in winter tones and a depth that I appreciate more and more. I now regularly offer this option for maternity and family sessions in Berlin, Nice or Paris.

Berlin, a new territory to explore
I am still getting to know Berlin.
I come from a Latin culture, from sunlight and Mediterranean warmth. Berlin’s culture feels more raw, more contemporary and more experimental, and it fascinates me deeply. I am looking forward to discovering the city with fresh eyes. Exploring its neighborhoods, its art, its cultural scene and its architecture. Experiencing a different energy, far from the South of France. This is also why I am gradually settling there. From September 2026, I will regularly offer maternity and family sessions in Berlin, mainly at home and in natural light.
Photographing motherhood in Berlin
This first family session in Berlin confirmed my desire to develop my work here.
The city offers a strong cultural diversity, international families, warm interior spaces and a more minimal aesthetic.
Photographing motherhood in Berlin means observing families in motion, often between languages and cultures.
If you are living in Berlin and would like to document your pregnancy or your family life, feel free to get in touch to discuss your project. I speak French and English, and hopefully a few words of German very soon.
