Maternity Photography in Berlin, at Home and in the Garden

As a maternity photographer in Berlin, I love creating natural, sensitive and deeply personal photographs that feel true to the people I photograph. Just a few weeks before the birth of their baby girl, I met M. and F. for an at-home maternity session. M. wanted above all to create natural, sensitive and deeply personal photographs – images that would reflect their everyday life, their connection and this very special time before welcoming their daughter.

Their home, and especially their permaculture garden, naturally became the setting for the photographs. Rather than staging moments, we simply let the day unfold: gardening, playing music, singing, dancing, spending time with their dog Hima, and feeding the chickens and rabbits.

I particularly loved photographing their pregnancy in a place that felt so completely like them, surrounded by the things that make up their everyday life. Simple gestures, plenty of movement and a great deal of tenderness, with the garden as a backdrop.

Celebrating the Pregnant Body, Naturally

M. also wanted to celebrate her pregnant body in its simplest and most natural form. This is something that continues to fascinate me year after year: the way the body transforms to create a new life.

This is what I love most about maternity photography – taking the time, working in a familiar environment and allowing the images to unfold naturally. For this session, shooting on film brought the soft, timeless quality we were looking for, creating photographs that feel more like memories than a traditionally posed photoshoot.

This is also the approach I bring to my maternity photography sessions in Berlin, whether at home or outdoors: creating spontaneous, sensitive and deeply personal images that feel true to the people in them.
