Choosing the right place to tell your story

A maternity session is an experience you offer to yourself.
A few hours outside of time, to reconnect with your body, your relationship, your story. My intention is simple:
to create images in which you recognize yourself and perhaps even see yourself differently. Most sessions take place in your home, in an intimate and familiar environment where you can move freely and be fully yourself.
I also work outdoors during warmer months, in natural light, for softer and more open atmospheres. Whether you are alone, with your partner, or already a family, I approach each session as a quiet, meaningful moment within the intensity of motherhood.

Your family story

Your baby, your first moments, your daily life… Time flies.
And most of these precious moments live only on our phones.
When I became a mother, I felt the need to document this part of my life.
That’s why I created these sessions. As a newborn and family photographer in Nice and Berlin, I offer a different approach:
a complete visual story, built with intention, sensitivity and time. Each session is a complete visual story, a narrative of your time together. You receive a full gallery of images to download.

Remembering what truly matters

Spending time with you and your baby, at home or outside, allows me to document what is already there: the way you look at each other,
the feeding moments, the first smiles,
the gestures, the touch, the closeness.
Your love, your attention, your everyday life.
These sessions can take place in the intimacy of your home, whether you choose to reveal your skin or not, or outdoors during warmer days for a more luminous and vibrant atmosphere.

A FEW WORDS BEFORE YOUR SESSION

1. “I’m not photogenic, I’M SCARED ABOUT THIS SHOOTING”
This is something I hear almost every time we meet. And yet… I never really believe it. Being photogenic is not about knowing how to pose.
It’s about being present. Fully present in the moment. Being yourself.
And I do everything I can to help you get there.
During pregnancy sessions, I guide you gently. I might suggest a few simple, natural positions but nothing stiff, nothing forced. Just enough for you to feel comfortable in your body.
The rest of the time,my approach is documentary. I let you live, move, interact. Sometimes I’ll suggest a gesture, a movement, a connection
but what truly matters is your spontaneity.
With babies, everything is already there. I let you feed them, hold them, change them, keep them close, skin to skin. I quietly step into those moments. What I photograph are not poses. They are real moments.
2. “My home is messy, not very bright, not really decorated…”
What matters to me is not the perfection of a place, but the story it tells. Whether during your pregnancy or with your children, I come to photograph the space where your life happens. The place where you laugh, cook, fix things, comfort each other, move through your days.
Nothing is more valuable than that.
Not a perfectly styled interior. Not a magazine home.
Toys left around, a kitchen that’s being lived in, a cake baking in the oven…
all of this speaks about you. I’m not looking for a setting. I’m looking for an atmosphere. An energy. A presence.
The size of your home doesn’t matter.
The light doesn’t matter as much as you think. We will work with what is there — and it is always enough.
And if it reassures you, a few fresh flowers or beautiful sheets can add a touch of color. But what truly matters is you.
3. “I’m afraid my child won’t cooperate”
That often happens at the beginning
(or sometimes they’re perfectly calm, and that works too).
We take the time to make it a good experience for everyone. Most of the time, we focus on them.
We play, we laugh, we tickle, we move around, we let things unfold.
I promise that at some point, there will be laughter, kisses, and eyes full of love.
And honestly, capturing their little expressions, their tears, their messy faces, that is just as meaningful. We can also turn the session into something a bit special for them: eating ice cream on the couch, painting and keeping colorful hands, jumping on the bed…
They usually love it.
4. “I don’t know what to wear”
What matters most is that what you wear feels like you. Your favorite jeans.
Your child’s favorite sweater.
Something colorful, patterned, or more neutral, everything can work.
At the beginning of the session, we take a moment to put outfits together.
For pregnancy sessions, you mainly need a set of well-fitted underwear.
From there, we can build freely borrowing an oversized shirt or jeans from your partner, wearing a kimono, or simply using what you already have at home. I also send you a few visual references beforehand, if you need inspiration.
5. “What if the weather is bad?”
In Nice, it doesn’t happen that often.
For outdoor sessions, we only reschedule if it’s raining.
A cloudy sky can actually be very beautiful and soft in photographs.
Indoor sessions always go ahead as planned. I unfortunately have limited availability, so rescheduling is not always easy. And to be honest, proof that I love grey light: I’m moving to Berlin.
6. “Can we meet before the session?”
I don’t offer in-person meetings before the session.
However, I do send you a questionnaire to get to know you better, your story, your expectations.
And if it feels reassuring, we can absolutely schedule a call beforehand with pleasure.
7. Comment se passe la réservation si nous voulons que tu sois notre photographe ?
Contactez-moi via le formulaire de contact avec tous les détails de votre Grand Jour (date, lieux, déroulé, nombre d’invités).
Si je suis disponible, je vous envoie un document avec toutes les infos, puis nous faisons une visio. Après signature du contrat et versement de l’acompte, la date est définitivement réservée. Ah oui et surtout : n’hésitez pas à me tutoyer, je suis mal à l’aise avec le vouvoiement très français.
8. Es-tu seulement photographe de mariage ? Combien de mariages couvres-tu par an ?
Je photographie des mariages professionnellement depuis presque 10 ans. Depuis mes débuts, j’ai rencontré plus de 100 couples d’amoureux.
Depuis 2021, je limite volontairement mon activité à une dizaine de mariages par an, afin de rester pleinement investie auprès de chaque couple. Une grande partie de mon travail est aujourd’hui consacrée à la maternité et au portrait de femmes tant pour de la commande que pour mon travail d’artiste-auteur. Par ailleurs, je ne suis pas vidéaste, car ce n’est pas le même métier. En revanche, je peux vous recommander des vidéastes talentueux si vous le souhaitez.

Coming down from this cloud, after looking and looking again at these photos – our photos. Paul said something very true: “they feel suspended, like a film.”
They give me such a strong emotion, even after going back to them again and again. These photos are far beyond my “dream photos,” far beyond what I had imagined to capture this moment in our lives.
They are so beautiful, so soft, so tender.
I find us radiant, connected, exactly like that beautiful moment we shared with her, which was completely free of artifice. She was with us like a discreet friend, a witness to this enchanted pause in life that pregnancy is.
Thank you Julie, thank you for these many beautiful photographs. Thank you for these memories that we will be so proud to show our daughter. You truly have an incredible talent.

Julie is a true artist. I had the chance to work with her twice: during my pregnancy and then with our baby. The sessions took place in our home, in the intimacy of our space. What an experience.
Julie knows how to capture light like no one else, to play with shadows, with shapes and spaces. We didn’t feel any anxiety in front of her camera, as she immediately made us feel at ease.
She is so kind and human that we almost forgot about the camera. Thank you a thousand times for capturing these precious moments and for showing them as they truly are, without embellishment. We look at our photos often, with wonder. We will never get tired of them.

I had been following Julie for a long time, telling myself: one day, she will be the one photographing my little family. And when she came to our home, I understood why I had been feeling that.
She has this soft, simple, natural presence… the kind of person who makes everyone feel at ease within a few minutes, as if she were already part of our daily life.
The session unfolded very lightly: no forced poses, no awkward moments, just us, in our real setting, and her, observing, capturing, understanding. We first started with my daughter’s meal, then a moment of family play, and then nap time… our little rituals, our everyday life.
And then the photos arrived. Wow…
It was us, truly us: our gestures, our looks, our little habits, the connection, the softness, the love without staging.
I am so happy with the result, and even more with the human connection behind it.
