Cap Corse, at the heart of their story

For J. and T., Corsica was never simply the setting for their wedding. It is an island that has been part of their story and their lives for years — a place connected to travel, nature and time spent together. It was here, in their favourite spot in the maquis, that T. proposed to J.

For their wedding day, they chose the beautiful Palazzu Nicrosi, a place I had been dreaming of photographing for a long time. I have such a love for Cap Corse: its extraordinary light, wild landscapes and that feeling of being at the very edge of the world.

Over the months leading up to the wedding, J. and I also developed a very special relationship. I was there through the final preparations, the doubts and the inevitable last-minute stress, before finally seeing her on the day itself, surrounded by the people they love most.

A ceremony fully lived

J. and T. asked their guests to put their phones away during the ceremony. I thought it was such a wonderful choice. Nothing came between them and the people they had chosen to share this moment with. Every glance, tear, smile and reaction could simply unfold.

And there were some incredibly emotional moments. J.’s entrance, T.’s reaction — which you won’t see here, because some moments belong entirely to the couple — their vows, the exchange of rings, their first kiss… Simple moments, but filled with so much emotion.

This is exactly how I love to photograph weddings: close enough not to miss what matters, but always with enough distance to let the day unfold naturally.

Film photographs full of movement and life

J. and T. wanted their wedding photographs to feel alive: laughter, spontaneous gestures, beautiful portraits without rigid posing, movement, blur and all the little details in between.

After the ceremony, we chased the last rays of sunlight for a few portraits of J., making the most of that beautiful Cap Corse light. I photographed their day using a mix of film and digital photography, paying particular attention to colour, light and everything happening naturally around them.

The result is a documentary approach with touches of editorial photography, but never anything too posed — photographs that leave room for emotion, movement and all those happy accidents that make a wedding feel real.

A wedding surrounded by the people they love

With around sixty of their closest friends and family gathered around them, the day unfolded around the people who matter most to J. and T. Some of the details that stayed with me most were the handwritten letters they had prepared for each of their guests, given to them just before dinner, and the emotions on their faces as they read them. And then, later in the evening, an unexpected little appearance from their dog, who sadly couldn’t be there for the wedding itself.

These are the photographs I love most: the ones that tell a wedding through its big moments, but also through all the small details that could belong to no one else. I try to photograph at least one wedding in Corsica every year. I love returning to this island, to its extraordinary light and landscapes, and to the stories that bring me back here.
